Eyes Wide Open exhibit:
Boots on the Ground, Shoes on the Ground
A memorial to the human costs of the Iraq War Wednesday September 19, 2007
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
513 Parnassus Avenue
San Francisco, CA 94143
This powerful art exhibit featured 393 pairs of boots
honoring the soldiers from California killed in Iraq,
together with 100 shoes in memory of Iraqis killed in
the conflict. The “Boots on the Ground, Shoes on the
Ground” exhibit at UCSF is meant to provide a space
for reflection on the profound losses and sacrifices that
have already occurred, and continue to occur, in Iraq.
The IAG brings the
boot exhibit to UCSF as
part of a widely acclaimed
national exhibit called
“Eyes Wide Open,” sponsored
by the American
Friends Service Committee
(AFSC). The AFSC’s
mission is to support the
dignity and worth of every
individual, the sanctity of
human life and humanity’s
collective responsibility
to promote peace.
