A Military Doctor's Experience
A Firsthand description by one military doctor serving in Iraq, taking care of American Troops and Iraqi civilians.

Speaker: Alan Spira MD, DTM&H, FAAEM, FRSTM, FABMA

Dr. Spira is a graduate of UCLA School of Medicine and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He practices tropical medicine and emergency medicine, both for the US Military and in private: for the military he is a Commander in the US Navy Medical Corps, having served in Iraq as a recalled reservist, and still serves as a physician for the United States Marine Corps. Aside from serving the country, he works as the physician for the Abayudaya tribe in Uganda, has an NGO with a focus on Global Health; previously he had a private Tropical & Travel Medicine practice in Beverly Hills for 14 years before being deployed with the Navy. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture and a member of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States.
